Local Politics

Scotland has always been a proud nation but sadly the vote of the ordinary man and woman has become lost amongst the disillusionment of modern politics. Nevertheless, these are challenging times as so much is changing, and unless we the electorate scrutinise the options before us and vote willingly, the governance of this country will weaken and time will be lost for securing a stable environment in which to live. We have to ask ourselves how the needs of our communities are being represented in both parliaments at Holyrood and Westminster. As part of a democratic society we can engage far more in the political arena than we realise. Voting is just the start; the people we elect are public servants paid out of the public purse, so it is therefore paramount that we make sure that those we vote for are worthy of office and work for the good of this country rather than for self-gain.

Local Politics provides you with information and weblinks to help you get involved, however small that involvement is, it matters.
