Tommy
Loudon, Director of CommunicationsI used to milk cows. I was a dairy farmer next to the village of Moscow, Ayrshire up until 2000 when I decided, through ill health after a farm accident, to stop full time dairy farming and divsersify into my farm conservation advisory career. The experience and 39 years on the family farm has been invalueble to take on and help the rural community in Ayrshire and Arran. I am farm advisor in the West of Scotland for the Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group, a nationwide farmer led group that delivers agri-enviroment schemes and rural projects. Having worked for FWAG since May 2000 our team has successfully brought in over £8 million of grant aid for conservation work to Ayrshire and Arran. We are now busy with local projects involving local food, renewables, water quality and landscape skills.
I live with my wife, Fiona who is a head teacher in Glasgow, just outside the village of Kilmaurs. My hobbies are hill walking, rugby and photograghy. I am delighted to be a director of Localise Ayrshire, because it is bringing real issues to society that will help create more effective resource management.
